Back-to-back wins over ranked teams have moved Virginia into the top five of the two national polls.
The Cavs (9-1) are ranked fifth in the Associated Press poll and the USA Today coaches poll.
Michigan State (12-0), an even pair of words in these parts, is ranked #1 in both polls. A pair of Big 12 powers, Oklahoma (8-0) and Kansas (9-1) are two and three in the two polls, with Maryland (10-1) ranked fourth in both.
Preseason #1 North Carolina (9-2) is ranked seventh in both polls.
Duke (9-2), which lost to Utah over the weekend, fell to 10th in the coaches poll and 15th in the AP poll.
Two other ACC teams are in the national rankings – Miami (9-1) is 13th in the AP poll and 16th in the coaches poll, and Louisville (9-1) is 15th in the coaches poll and 16th in the AP poll.
