600px-I-64The emergency roadwork is complete and all lanes on Interstate 64 between Interstate 81 and the West Virginia line are now open.

Beginning at 6 a.m. this morning, eastbound and westbound Interstate 64 were closed from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. for pavement repairs between exit 50 (Lexington/Kerrs Creek) and the junction of Interstate 81 in Rockbridge County. Local traffic was able to reach the city of Lexington from I-64 eastbound by using exit 50, or from I-81 by using exit 188B or exit 195. Virginia State Police enforced a detour route for all through traffic.

The pavement repairs took place on I-64 between mile markers 53.3 and 55.3, where contractors are rehabilitating bridges over the Maury River.

Details on the Maury River bridges project are available here.
