Yankees hold off Orioles, win 4-3

lgo_mlb_baltimore_oriolesChris Davis homered with two outs in the ninth, but the Orioles couldn’t get anything else going from there, and the New York Yankees held on for a 4-3 win Wednesday night.

Andrew Miller struck out Jonathan Schoop after the Davis homer to lock down his 22nd save for New York (52-41), which leads Baltimore (46-47) by six games.

Mark Teixeira (24) and Alex Rodriguez (20) homered for the Yankees. Ryan Flaherty (4) hit a two-run shot for the O’s, his fourth of the season.

The Davis solo blast in the ninth was his 20th on the year.

Ivan Nova (2-3, 3.34 ERA) got the win for New York, giving up two runs on three hits in six innings of work, striking out three and walking three.

Kevin Gausman (1-2, 5.18 ERA) took the loss, giving up four runs on six hits in six innings, striking out four and walking two.
