Washington suffers first loss: Nats fall to Marlins, 6-4

washington nationalsTanner Roark wasn’t effective in four innings around a rain delay, and Miami made Washington pay for it in a 6-4 win on Thursday.

Roark (0-1) was touched up for four runs on nine hits in four innings. The game was delayed an hour and 25 minutes in the second by rain, and Miami starter Adam Conley didn’t return after the delay, giving way after just one inning of work.

David Phelps (1-0) picked up the win with four innings of scoreless two-hit relief.

Bryce Harper hit his second homer of the season, a solo shot in the seventh.

Anthony Rendon and Daniel Murphy each had two hits for the Nationals (2-1).
