VCU to extend transfer deadline to help students from Sweet Briar College

vcu-logoVirginia Commonwealth University will offer students from Sweet Briar College an opportunity to finish their educations at VCU.

Sweet Briar’s board of directors announced Tuesday that the 114-year-old private liberal arts institution would close at the end of the current academic year due to “insurmountable financial challenges.” The Amherst County college enrolls about 700 female students.

“VCU will extend its transfer application deadline and work individually with Sweet Briar students,” said Sybil Halloran, associate vice provost for the Division of Strategic Enrollment Management.

Students interested in transferring to VCU should visit the Office of Admissions, call 804-828-1222 or send an email to ugrad@vcu.edu.
