The Waynesboro Police Department has charged a Waynesboro man and a Staunton woman after a tense incident on June 1.

At approximately 11:26 am on June 1, officers responded to the 1600 block of New Hope Road for a report of an altercation.  When police arrived, they encountered 40-year-old Jeremiah Woodson of Waynesboro and 31-year-old Sandi Crawford of Staunton.  During the course of investigating the disturbance officers learned that Woodson was wanted by Augusta County on a Circuit Court capias for a probation violation.

While two of the officers were attempting to take Woodson into custody, he bolted from the officers and produced a loaded 9mm Gabilondoy Llama handgun from his backpack.  Officers reacted quickly and were able to utilize a Taser to take Woodson into custody without further incident.

Jeremiah Woodson was arrested for:

  • Violation of 18.2-57; Felony Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer (x2)
  • Violation of 18.2-308.2; Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

Sandi Crawford was arrested for:

  • 2-460; Misdemeanor Obstruction of Justice
