Culpeper District Traffic Alerts: July 2-6

road work transportationThe following highway work is scheduled, weather permitting, in the Culpeper District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. (NEW) or (UPDATE) indicate revisions since last week’s report.

VDOT will suspend most highway work zones and lift lane closures on interstates and other major roads in Virginia from noon Tuesday, July 3 until noon Thursday, July 5. For more information, see the news release.

Albemarle County

(UPDATE) Interstate 64 – Installation of signs westbound between mile marker 126 and 124. Be alert for workers near the travel lanes Monday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

(NEW) Interstate 64 – Bridge work near mile marker 119. Expect lane closures Monday and Tuesday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

(UPDATE) Interstate 64 – Tree trimming operations on the entrance and exit ramps to Route 616 (Black Cat Road) at mile marker 129. Be alert for workers near the travel lanes Sunday through Tuesday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Route 20 (Monticello Avenue) – Bridge repairs over Moores Creek near Interstate 64. Expect nightly lane closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday and Tuesday.

(NEW) Route 20 (Scottsville Road) – Installation of signs at Route 720 (Harris Creek Road). Be alert for workers near the travel lanes Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

(NEW) Route 20 (Scottsville Road) – Sign work near Mill Creek Drive. Be alert for workers near the travel lanes Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

(NEW) Route 20 (Stony Point Road) – Sign repair between Route 641 (Echo Valley Road) and Route 641 (Burnley Station Road). Be alert for workers near the travel lanes Friday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

(NEW) Route 20 (Scottsville Road) – Installation of signs near Route 338 (College Drive). Be alert for workers near the travel lanes Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

(NEW) Route 53 (Thomas Jefferson Parkway) – Sign repair between Route 732 (Milton Road) and Route 795 (James Monroe Parkway). Be alert for workers near travel lanes Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Route 250 (Ivy Road) – Utility work under VDOT permit near Route 601 (Old Garth Road). Westbound traffic will use the left turn lane. Obey traffic controls Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Route 654 (Barracks Road) – Construction of sidewalk between Route 601 (Old Garth Road) and Route 656 (Georgetown Road). Expect daily, intermittent lane closures.

Route 810 (Blackwells Hollow Road) – Rehabilitating bridge over Halls Creek. Road closed to through traffic June 11-Sept. 7. Use alternate routes.

Various Routes – Road repairs after torrential rain. VDOT operators and contract crews will continue making repairs to several roads. VDOT is working as quickly as possible to get all roads and bridges passable. Check 511Virginia.org for the latest road closures.

Culpeper County

(NEW) Route 15 (James Madison Highway) – Line painting between Route 648 (Peacock Lane) and the Madison County line. Expect lane closures Monday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday from 7 a.m. to noon, Thursday from noon to 5 p.m., and Friday from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Business Route 29 (Brandy Road) – Utility work under VDOT permit on ramp to Route 29 (James Madison Highway). Expect lane closures on the ramp Monday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday from 6 a.m. to noon, Thursday from noon to 3 p.m., and Friday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

(NEW) Route 29 (James Monroe Highway) – Line painting between Route 609 (Hoover Road) and Route 718 (Mountain Run Lake Road). Expect lane closures Monday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday from 7 a.m. to noon, Thursday from noon to 5 p.m., and Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Route 663 (Alanthus Road) – Utility work under VDOT permit at intersection of Route 762 (Brandy Road). Be alert for workers near the travel lanes Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

(NEW) Route 666 (Bradford Road) – Emergency pipe replacement near Route 1096 (Alexander Court). Road closed to through traffic until late afternoon Tuesday. Use alternate routes.

(NEW) Route 666 (Braggs Corner Road) – Utility work under VDOT permit near Route 1023 (Montanus Drive). Be alert for workers near the travel lanes Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Route 685 (Auburn Road) – Utility work under VDOT permit at Route 663 (Alanthus Road). Be alert for workers near the travel lanes Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Fauquier County

(UPDATE) Interstate 66 – Rehabilitating bridge over Route 725 (Tuckers Lane).

Expect eastbound lane closures during the following times:

· Monday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

· Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon

· Thursday from noon to 4 p.m.

· Friday from 9 a.m. to noon

· 7 p.m. Friday to 11 a.m. Saturday

· 9 p.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Sunday

Expect westbound lane closures during the following times:

· 8 p.m. Monday to 12 p.m. Tuesday

· 8 p.m. Thursday to 9 a.m. Friday

· 9 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday

· 8 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday

· 9 p.m. Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday

Route 688 (Leeds Manor Road) – Rehabilitating Interstate 66 bridge over Route 688. Expect intermittent lane closures controlled by flagging while crews work underneath the bridge Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Route 715 (Old Carters Mill Road) – Rehabilitating bridge over Cromwells Run. Road closed to through traffic June 11-July 13. Use alternate routes.

Route 724 (Pleasant Vale Road) – Rehabilitating Interstate 66 bridge over Route 724. Expect intermittent lane closures controlled by flagging while crews work underneath the bridge Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Route 731 (Cobbler Mountain Road) – Rehabilitating Interstate 66 bridge over Route 731. intermittent lane closures controlled by flagging while crews work underneath the bridge Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

(NEW) Route 1105 (Alwington Boulevard) – Traffic signal work at Business Route 15/17 (East Shirley Avenue). Expect intermittent lane closures controlled by flagging Monday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
