Angela Kuremsky, RN, an emergency room nurse at Augusta Health, was named the 2016 Nurse with Outstanding Contribution to EMS by the Central Shenandoah Emergency Medical Services Council. As a result of receiving this regional award, she is now a nominee for the Governor’s EMS Award in November.
The award is given to a nurse who exemplifies outstanding service is emergency medical services; knowledge and performance of EMS nursing skills; and high standards of cooperation and leadership with other EMS personnel and agencies.
As the scheduler for EMS education, Kuremsky schedules students with a wide variety of experience and background with an appropriate nurse preceptor. She also works as a nurse preceptor herself, she ensures that the students are given the opportunities they need to acquire and develop necessary skills, often working one-on-one to answer questions. Kuremsky is also an Advanced Life Support volunteer provider with the Staunton-Augusta Rescue Squad, and serves as Secretary and Membership Committee Chair for the squad.
