Winners and Losers: McCain, GI Bill, Gilmore, Kaine
Column by Chris Graham
LOSER: John McCain drops John Hagee like a hot potato
“I can understand why people are upset about this. I can understand why, that Americans when viewing these kinds of comments are angry and upset.”
That was McCain talking a few weeks ago about the controversial pastor Jeremiah Wright, incidentally. Not about the controversial pastor John Hagee.
When you have a log in your own eye, you shouldn’t go around pointing out the speck in somebody else’s eye.
WINNER: GI Bill passes, in spite of Bob Goodlatte
I don’t know how one could be in opposition to our country standing behind its promises to military-service members to provide for their education once they’re done with their commitment to protecting our freedoms.
Goodlatte will have to answer that one for himself.
LOSER: Jim Gilmore isn’t raising money
Maybe Chris Saxman was onto something when he said to me that the Senate GOP nomination hadn’t been sewn up quite yet …
PUSH: Tim Kaine goes on the road to sell roads plan
Give him credit for one thing – at least he’s taking his case to the people.
I don’t know that I see him winning this one in the end, but …
