Wagner TV ad hits at Bolling on meeting attendance
The Virginians for Wagner campaign released the second advertisement of the general-election campaign on Tuesday. The 30-second spot, “Work,” will run on broadcast stations in the Charlottesville, Norfolk, and Richmond media markets, as well as on cable in the Northern Virginia markets. Wagner’s first ad, “Experience,” will remain on the air.
“Work” highlights incumbent Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling’s atrocious attendance record at meetings of the nine state boards and commissions that he is either required by law to attend, or has a standing invitation to. Over the last four years, Bolling has attended less than 6 percent of the meetings of the Governor’s Advisory Council on Revenue Estimates, the Virginia Military Advisory Council, the Secure Commonwealth Panel, the Board of Directors of Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the Commission on Civics Education, the Health Care Reform Commission, the Virginia Disability Commission, the Board of Directors of the Jamestown-York Foundation, and the Virginia Civil Rights Memorial Commission.
Bolling is by Virginia state code a member of six of the boards and commissions. He was appointed to the Health Care Reform Commission by Governor Tim Kaine; served as a member of the Virginia Civil Rights Memorial Commission by Virginia Executive Order and at the request of the General Assembly; and had an open invitation to attend meetings of the Governor’s Advisory Council on Revenue Estimates.
