The Greenbrier to host Marshall, WVU football scrimmages in April

footballstock1The Greenbrier, the historic American resort located in the foothills of West Virginia’s Allegheny Mountains, proudly announced today that The Greenbrier will be the host of Marshall University’s intra-squad scrimmage on April 11 and West Virginia University’s intra-squad scrimmage on April 18 at the AdvoCare Sports Performance Center at The Greenbrier.

Welcomed at today’s press conference held in the AdvoCare Sports Performance Center at The Greenbrier were notable staff and alumni from each university. Present were Marshall University’s Chad Pennington, Marshall University Alumnus; Mike Hamrick, Athletic Director; and John Sutherland, Associate Athletic Director as well as West Virginia University’s Anthony Becht, West Virginia University Alumnus; Dana Holgorsen, Head Coach; Shane Lyons, Athletic Director; Michael Fragale, Associate Athletic Director; and Ben Murray, Mountaineer Athletic Club. These gentlemen came together to discuss the details of each individual team’s intra-squad scrimmage.

 

Fan Information

Join us on April 11, 2015 from 3-5pm for Marshall University’s intra-squad scrimmage and April 18, 2015 (time TBD) for West Virginia University’s intra-squad scrimmage. Admission to this event is complimentary. Transportation and parking will be $10 per adult; no charge for children 18 and younger. Walk-up ticket purchases will not be permitted.

Communities in School of Greenbrier County: CISGC is a local non-profit West Virginia affiliate of the nation’s leading drop-out prevention program, Communities In Schools. CISGC’s mission is “to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.”  CISGC is excited to expand its existing partnership with The Greenbrier, and create a theme of “Let’s Go to College” for the weekends when the football programs of West Virginia University and Marshall University are in town.  During these weekends CIS will provide transportation for all, to and from, to the AdvoCare Sports Performance Center, to watch and participate with the spring practices, and to participate in a variety of educational activities that will be available at the Center for students and parents.

Event Parking: Parking is available in White Sulphur Springs, WV at three designated lots. Details on these locations can be found at greenbrier.com/Marshall and greenbrier.com/WVU. Please watch for clearly marked flaggers to direct you to the appropriate parking lot on the day of the scrimmage. The only form of transportation allowed to enter the AdvoCare Sports Performance Center for the scrimmages is in the form of buses. Personal vehicles, walk-ins, and private buses/motor coaches are not permitted at the AdvoCare Sports Performance Center at The Greenbrier.

Transportation Schedule: Transportation will run continuously from the designated parking areas to the AdvoCare Sports Performance Center at The Greenbrier on the day of the events.

Transportation Tickets: Transportation tickets are $10 per adult (no charge for children ages 18 and under) and  must be purchased in advance online. Tickets will be available for purchase until 11:59pm on Friday, April 10, 2015 and Friday, April 17, 2015 respectively or while supplies last. Walk-up ticket purchases will not be permitted.

Will Call: Will Call will be located near the entrance to the scrimmage. Please bring your online purchase receipt and photo ID.

Seating: For fans wishing to attend the scrimmages, seating availability is on a first-come, first-served basis. Limited bleacher seating and seating on the berm are available. Please note—there is no reserved seating. Handicap seating is also available.

Lodging:  The Greenbrier has availability during both scrimmages. Please call their reservations team for rates and availability at 855-421-0201 (option 4).

Still Photos and Video: Fans are welcome to take still photos of the players during the scrimmages. Video is prohibited. Marshall University and/or West Virginia University staff may request at any time that you cease using photography devices.

Prohibited Items: Purses larger than a clutch bag; coolers; briefcases; backpacks; fanny packs; cinch bags; non-approved seat cushions; luggage or bags of any kind; computer bags; camera bags; video cameras; weapons; knives; pepper spray; food or drink.

Concessions: There will be a variety of food and drinks available for purchase on site from local vendors. Outside food and drinks are not allowed on the premises.

Restrooms: Restrooms are available at scrimmages.

Special Needs: Visitors with special needs should see a Greenbrier representative for appropriate assistance. An ADA bus to and from each spectator parking area and a special viewing area is available for fans with special needs.
