Swoope man dead in Saturday night crash in Augusta County

augusta countyA Swoope man is dead as a result of injuries suffered in a two-vehicle crash in Augusta County Saturday night.

James H. Campbell, 81, died at the scene of the 7:41 p.m. crash in the 1000 block of Little Calf Pasture Highway.

A 2017 Toyota Corolla was traveling south on Route 42 when it crossed the center line and struck a northbound 1984 Ford pickup truck. The impact of the crash caused the pickup to run off the right side of the road and overturn onto its roof.

The 28-year-old female driver of the Toyota was transported to Augusta Health for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Charges are pending, as the crash remains under investigation.
