Richard Adams: Ring in the New Year with the Richard Adams Variety Show
I guess the best way to describe the show is to say that it’s a cross between fine entertainment, goofiness and silliness. This month I’m featuring the best pianist i know. William Hayes has been the pianist for the Boogie Kings for twenty-some years. He hails from Danville, and has played for the likes of Jimmy Fortune and Ben “Cooter” Jones. It’ll just be William on the piano playing and singing a few vocals.
I’ve asked Buddy Thomas to come on the last several shows and do a tribute to someone. This month it’s Willie Nelson.
Stephanie Clark came in my studio to do a Christmas album this fall, and I immediately fell in love with her lovely voice. She’ll be doing a couple of songs to soundtracks. She’s worth the price of admission.
The show will also feature “You can be the Weather Guy.” An audience member can come up and read the cue cards and pretend to be your favorite weather guy or gal. There will also be a random person from the audience interviewed in a segment called “You can be on a Talk Show.”
And finally, I’m introducing a new segment called “It’s never too late to start.” This will feature folks that have recently started a hobby or skill that will be featured on the show.
So far I’ve got a tap dancer and juggler lined up for this show. Hopefully, this will inspire others to hit the Richard Adams Variety Show Stage in the near future.
Let me know if you see or hear something that would work for the show. Always looking for talent.
The next Richard Adams Variety Show is Friday, Jan. 11th at the Gateway Theatre in Waynesboro. More information online at http://waynetheatre.org/2013/01/02/richard-adams-variety-show-jan-11.
