Sam Rasoul | Why I support Creigh Deeds

Letters

Over the past several months, I have had the pleasure of traveling our great Commonwealth learning more about the struggles facing everyday Virginians. In that time, I have come to one stark conclusion. As a proud Virginian, the single most important elected office to me is the governor. We need a leader who has a vision much like President Obama and former governor Mark Warner and our current governor, Tim Kaine. We need a leader who wants to move Virginia forward.

Creigh Deeds is that leader. I support Creigh, because I believe he is not only the most prepared to lead, but also the best candidate to beat Bob McDonnell. Brian Moran is a good man who has sacrificed a great deal for Virginia, and Terry McAuliffe is a proven leader. But in my humble opinion, Creigh is not only a great person, but has the experience and plans to rebuild Virginia’s economy.

Bob McDonnell represents everything I have worked against over the past several years. Creigh has run statewide before and lost by the narrowest of margins, so I know he has what it takes to compete in every corner of Virginia. Larry Sabato said recently that Creigh’s rural base would make it “nearly impossible” for McDonnell to win in a head-to-head match up in November.

When I first met Creigh years ago, he told me to run for office only if I had “that fire in my belly!” I know he has that passion and I hope you will join me in supporting him with your vote on June 9th in our statewide Democratic primary.

It’s simple. The more people get to know Creigh and hear his message of opportunity, the more voters realize he’s the candidate who can win in November. That’s why I need you now.

Thank you for all of your support and I hope you will vote for Creigh on June 9th.

Sam Rasoul was the Sixth District Democratic Party congressional nominee in 2008.
