Miata cruise

Jim Bishop

Picture this – A lazy Sunday afternoon with spectacular, sun-drenched weather and pleasant temperatures providing a the backdrop for a gang of merry Miata mavens who refuse to grow up to come together in one Accord (would we all fit?), form a big boss line, hit the accelerator (while keeping an eye on the speedometer) and go cruisin’ in their lean, mean, sporty Miata machines.

Shall this happen again? Why not, before there’s a chill in the air and we start bracing ourselves for falling temperatures, falling leaves, falling gas prices (HA!) and maybe even fallen arches.

Circle your social calendar for Sunday, Sept. 20 for the next Miata cruise. Again, the rendezvous point is the largely deserted parking lot at Waterman Square, Rt. 33 west, Harrisonburg. Plan to arrive by 12:45 p.m. to sign in, review some rules of the road and be ready to depart promptly at 1 p.m. The route is in process of being firmed up, but will likely involve a short stretch of the Blue Ridge Parkway south. The goal is a trek lasting between three and four hours, returning by back roads to the ‘Burg by 5 p.m. or earlier.

Please inform any fellow Miata aficionados of this upcoming event and encourage their participation. Hope you can join in the fun and fellowship – otherwise, you’ll have to shift for yourself!
