Nineteen-year-old country sensation Cody Purvis will appear at WTA’s Gateway on Friday, Sept. 30, at 8 p.m. Named “2011 Best Emerging Artist” by C’ville weekly, Purvis is on his way.
Born and raised in Charlottesville, Purvis gets his country music roots honestly. His mom and dad both sang in country bands. At the age of 2, he was singing in the car seat and as a child always dreamed of being on stage like his favorite country singer, Toby Keith.
When he turned 17 years old, Purvis lived his dreams. During a trip to Nashville in 2009, he was invited to take the stage at Cadillac Ranch to join Keith. The crowd loved Purvis’ energy and charisma. Locals said he was the best male singer to pass through Nashville in five years.
Purvis has since been honored to perform numerous times in Nashville including the world famous Nashville Palace. In June 2011, he performed his first Nashville solo show at Belcourt Taps & Tapas. Purvis will bring his band with him to his performance at the Gateway.
The Gateway is at 329 West Main in Downtown Waynesboro. Tickets for the show are $12 and may be obtained online at www.waynesborogateway.org or at the box office the night of the performance.
The Gateway opens at 7:30 pm for 8 o’clock performances. Beverages and snacks are available.
