ERSC Receives $2,000 from Lions Club

AFP

vpasheader0311A $2,000 check was received on Dec. 12 by the East Rockingham Senior Center for “Meals for Seniors” from the McGaheysville-Massanutten Lions Club. A grant request was submitted by ERSC Director Lisa Gooden in June, and notification was received a short time later that the grant had been approved and that the funding could be expected in the fall.

This is the second grant award for “Meals for Seniors,” and a total of $4,000 has been deposited in the VPAS/ERSC account. The initial grant in early 2012 was filed by Barry Elwood, current ERSC Local Council Chair and former Lions Club member. The Lions Club has also offered financial support in other ways including the purchase of a new blood pressure monitoring device bought to replace an aging and worn unit at our Center.

The Lions Club maintains a healthy cash flow through weekly bingo held at Massanutten’s LeClub and also hosting a huge golf tournament each year at Massanutten.

The Lions’ support of our aging population is greatly appreciated and will serve to assist meeting the needs of providing “Meals for Seniors” for the ERSC members and home bound (Meals on Wheels) clients.
