Cathleen P. Welsh, Attorney at Law with Lenhart Pettit will lead the FLSA session. This first session will help you become aware of the federal changes, how they relate to your company and how to classify your employees. Learn now how to avoid risk and liability by gaining a better understanding of the FLSA overtime rules.
The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) was enacted during the Great Depression to set minimum wage, overtime pay, record keeping and child labor standards. While it succeeded in protecting workers, it also created a maze of compliance issues. On May 18, 2016, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) published a Final Rule updating the overtime wage payment regulations for “white collar exemptions” under the FLSA which will go into effect on December 1, 2016.
For the second session, you will have a chance to hear from Mandi Montgomery Smith, Attorney at Law with Timberlake, Smith, Thomas & Moses, P.C., as she discusses keeping your businesses’ Intellectual Property protected. Do not assume your business is too small or too simple to have no intellectual property concerns. This presentation is designed to cover basic concepts about intellectual property, to help small business owners recognize issues and know when it is best to seek legal advice.
