Albemarle County woman arrested on drug charges

albemarle countyAn Albemarle County woman is facing drug charges resulting from an investigation by the U.S. Marshal’s Service, the Jefferson Area Drug Enforcement (JADE) Task Force and the Albemarle County Police Department.

Lanaja Jackson, 22, of Albemarle County, was charged with one count of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and one count of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Investigators encountered Jackson while conducting an ongoing criminal investigation at a residence in the 800 block of Runnel Court in Albemarle County on March 7, 2019. A search warrant executed at the apartment resulted in the seizure of approximately 94 grams of cocaine with an estimated street value of $9,400; 341 grams of marijuana with an estimated street value of $1,200; and an assault rifle.

Jackson was transported to the Albemarle Charlottesville Regional Jail.

This is an ongoing investigation and additional charges are pending.

The Jefferson Area Drug Enforcement Task Force (JADE) has been in existence since 1985 as regional narcotics task force made up of officers from the Charlottesville Police Department, Albemarle County Police Department and Virginia State Police.
