Nearly 100 students, mostly from JMU but a few from other schools, will have 24 hours to research, brainstorm, prototype and demonstrate an innovative form of software or physical product design during James Madison University’s second annual student-led Bluestone Hacks this weekend.
Organized by JMU’s University Innovation Fellows, the 24-hour event will run from 6 p.m. Friday, April 1 until 8 p.m. Saturday, April 2 at Lakeview Hall (formerly the WVPT television station) just inside the university’s Port Republic Road entrance.
Participants will work in teams of one to four to develop an innovative and technically savvy product idea under a theme that will be announced at the opening ceremony. A grand prize of $1,000 will be awarded to the team that produces and then demonstrates an idea that can truly alter the lives of the people who utilize this new tool, application or system.
The event will feature workshops and mentorship from sponsoring companies and food will be provided.
