jmu logoJMU volleyball head coach Lauren Steinbrecher has been chosen as the co-coach of the U.S. Collegiate National Team during its tour to China this summer.

The USA Collegiate National Team will tour China from June 17-27 with a roster of 12 of the top student-athletes with eligibility remaining from across the country. The team will train at the University of Southern California June 13-15 before embarking for China to play six matches against Chinese collegiate and adult teams.

“I am fired up to coach 12 of the best collegiate players in our country this summer,” Steinbrecher said. “I have no doubt that we will represent USA in a first-class manner and enjoy the opportunity to compete at a high level and experience China first hand.”

Steinbrecher has previously worked in the USA High Performance Pipeline. In four years with JMU, she has amassed a 68-50 record, including a 31-23 mark in the Colonial Athletic Association. She has advanced her squad to the CAA Championship all four seasons, including playing in the CAA semifinals three times.

Under her tutelage, 13 Dukes have received All-CAA honors. Three players, Lindsey Callahan (2007-10), Natalie Abel (2009-13) and Lizzy Briones (Siloam Springs, Ark./Siloam Springs) have been First Team honorees with Abel also earning VaSID State Player of the Year in 2011.
