Funk it up: Squirrels renounce showers as means to end 15-game losing streak

richmond-squirrelsThe Richmond Flying Squirrels, Double-A affiliate of the World Champion San Francisco Giants, are taking action to end the team’s franchise-record 15 game losing streak.

Squirrels VP & COO Todd “Parney” Parnell has suited up and will join the team in Altoona forMonday’s game. Parney has committed to wear the Squirrels bright orange RVA uniform until the team gets a win and he will be front and center for the series in Altoona.

Parney, to the dismay of many, has faithfully renounced taking a shower until the Squirrels next victory. The Squirrels have also hunted the greater Richmond area for a novelty horseshoe to hang over the Squirrely Gates and will urge fans to bring their lucky items to the next home game on Friday, May 8th if the losing streak is still in effect.

“The Flying Squirrels front office staff and players have a unique and special relationship.  We wanted to find a positive way to join forces with them to end this streak,” said Parney as he laced up his cleats. “We know they are giving their all every night and we want to give our all, smell and all, to show them we are right alongside them.”

Richmond is currently 3-17 on the season and in last place in the Western Division. The team returns home on Friday, May 8th for an Ocho De Mayo celebration.
