#1 seed Virginia defeats #8 seed NC State to advance to ACC Tournament semifinals

bear creek 2019 ACC TournamentTop seed Virginia got a jolt from fifth-year senior Jack Salt, who had a career-high 18 points, leading the ‘Hoos to a 76-56 win over #8 seed NC State in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals.

State (22-11) led 29-27 at the half, and it was 31-27 early in the second half when the 6’10” Salt snared a loose ball in the corner, drove to the hoop, converted the layup and a free throw, the first of three and-ones converted by Salt in the second half.

Kyle Guy had 29 points for Virginia, shooting a bonkers 10-of-13 from the floor and 7-of-9 from three-point range.

De’Andre Hunter added 16 points, 13 in the second half.

Ty Jerome had just two points on 1-of-11 shooting, but did have 10 assists, eight in the second half.
