route 29Albemarle County announces enhanced traffic enforcement in the vicinity of the Route 29/Rio Road Construction, including Carrsbrook Drive, Huntington Road, Northfield Drive, Old Brook Road, Berkmar Drive, Hillsdale Drive, and Branchlands Drive.

The Albemarle County Police Department has assigned a traffic officer for enforcement and visibility to these areas during morning and evening rush hours. In addition, the entire patrol division will conduct enforcement and visibility in these areas when not responding to calls for service. Furthermore, speed trailers and message boards will be deployed to remind drivers of speed limits.

These actions are in keeping with the County’s 29 Solutions Neighborhood Impact Mitigation Plan, which was developed to streamline support for neighborhoods during the 103-day period of traffic restrictions at the intersection of Route 29 and Rio Road.

The County is committed to public safety and will deploy every available resource to help mitigate any issues that may arise. To learn more about the Neighborhood Impact Mitigation Plan, visit www.albemarle.org/rt29 and click on Neighborhood Outreach.

During this construction period, remember to follow all posted signs and message boards.
