Lynchburg District Weekly Traffic Alert: May 21-25

Amherst County:

Route 29 – Shoulder widening/rumble strips/guardrail upgrades. Lane closures likely.

Route 29 Business – Madison Heights, shoulder widening/ rumble strips. Lane closures,delays likely. Estimated completion – August 2018.

Route 29 Business – Madison Heights, median barrier replacement. Lane closures will occur. Use caution. Estimated completion – April 2019.

Route 151 (601- county line) – Shoulder widening & rumble strip project through October 28.

Route 775 – Road closed approximately 3 days beginning May 21 for pipe replacement.

Surface treatment –Work at various locations will create likely delays.

Various – Crews will work surfaces and respond to customer concerns.

Appomattox County:

Route 600 over Crane Creek (627-460) – Road closed 6/18-7/13 for superstructure replacement. Detour via Routes 627, 601, and 460 back to 600.

Plant mix treatment – Beginning April 9, contractor crews will be working at various location. Delays likely.

Various – Crews will work surfaces and respond to customer concerns.

Buckingham County:

Route 20 (Rt. 15, Dillwyn – James River Bridge, Albemarle) – Pavement widening, rumble strips, guardrail replacement/upgrades & paving through summer. Flaggers/pilot vehicles in use.

Route 633, Andersonville AHQ – Crew will work shoulders.

Route 644 & 662, Andersonville AHQ – Crew will work on Rural Rustic projects.

Mowing, Andersonville AHQ – Crews will mow at various secondary road locations.

Various – Crews will work surfaces and respond to customer concerns.

Campbell County:

Route 24 @ 646 – Construction of roundabout & other improvements. Starting May 21, truck traffic over 44 ft restricted. Current paving markings removed and new line marking, signage and traffic control in place. No work will take place from 7:30-9 a.m. and 3-4 pm. Flagging may be done to ensure the safe, effective and efficient movement of traffic through the project.

Route 696 over Flat Creek (944-709) – Closed for bridge replacement 5/29 thru late July. Detour via Routes 24, 692, and 709 back to 696.

Surface treatment and plant mix- Contractor crews will be performing work on various routes. Delays likely.

Various – Crews will work surfaces and respond to customer concerns.

Charlotte County:

Route 604, Phenix AHQ – Shoulder widening to take place.

Route 608, Craftons Gate AHQ – Crews will work on safety project.

Route 695 over Cub Creek (617 – 727) – Closed thru 5/25 for bridge replacement. Detour via 617, 40 and 727 back to 695.

Craftons Gate AHQ – Crew will perform shoulder work on various 4-lane primary routes.

Plant Mix operations – Contractor crews will work at various location. Flaggers and pilot vehicles will assist traffic. Delays likely.

Various – Crews will boom axe, work surfaces and respond to customer concerns.

Cumberland County:

Route 45 – Crews will work on pavement messages. Delays possible.

Route 600 at Dry Creek – Road closed 5/21-6/1 for emergency pipe installation. Detour in place.

Surface treatment operations: Contractor crews will be performing surface treatment work at various location. Delays likely on Routes 667, 703 & 737.

Various – Crew will mow, work surfaces and respond to customer concerns.

Halifax County:

Route 58 W over Lawson Creek (501-931) – Lane closure, 11’6” width restriction for bridge work. Est. comp. 5/2018.

Route 670 over Buffalo Creek – Road closed from 639-637 for bridge replacement. Detour via 639 to 638 and 637 back to 670. Estimated completion – June 22.

Plant mix treatment – Beginning April 9, contractor crews will be working at various location. Delays likely.

Bethel AHQ – Crew will boom axe on primary routes.

Volens AHQ – Crew will cut right of way.

Various–Crews will mow and respond to customer requests.

Lynchburg:

Route 29/460 (Odd Fellows Rd Int. & Odd Fellows Rd., Phase 1)– Vehicles enter/exit road. Temporary lane closures on 460 & Odd Fellows. Est. comp. 8/3/18. Speed – 45 mph.

Liberty Mtn Dr – Ramp to 460 E closed for roundabout project.

Odd Fellows Road –1-way traffic from Perkins St. to Bradley Dr. to widen road. Detour.

Odd Fellows and Mayflower intersection –Closed to traffic through June 20. Detours in place.

Odd Fellows to US 29 Expressway – Phase II – Project started. Utility work ongoing. Bridge over RR to be closed for approximately 1 yr – date to be determined.

University Blvd –Lane closures, detour late-May until mid-August for roundabout construction.

Nelson County:

Plant mix & surface treatment –Working on various routes with likely result in delays.

Various – Crews will work surfaces and respond to customer concerns.

Pittsylvania County:

Route 29 Chatham Bypass – Contractor working on northbound median shoulder. Lane closure.

Route 29 North (Route 1080 to 40) – Contractor crew will perform plant mix operations. Alternating lane closures in use. Message boards in place.

Route 41, Mt. Hermon area – Right lanes closed for sidewalk replacement. Est. comp. mid-June.

Routes 637, Gretna AHQ, and 644 & 800, Rondo AHQ –Work on Rural Rustic projects.

Route 655 (729 – 734) – Road closed 6/11- 8/3 for bridge superstructure replacement. Detour via 729, 58 and 734.

Brosville and Rondo AHQs – Crews will clean roadsides.

Various –Crews will mow, boom axe, ditch and respond to customers.

Prince Edward County:

Route 360 – Crew will perform sign maintenance.

Route 460 West –Milling and paving will take place overnight from bypass toward Prospect.

Route 691 – Crew will prepare for Rural Rustic project.

Plant mix treatment –Contractor crews will be working at various locations. Delays likely.

Various – Crew will cut brush, remove debris, work surfaces and respond to customer concerns.

District-wide activities:

Bridge maintenance – Crews will perform maintenance on bridges.

Guardrail maintenance – Crews will do guardrail maintenance.

Latex applications and line painting – Traffic control will be in use at various locations.

Line painting/pavement marking – Crews will address work orders/requests as able.

Pipe rehabilitation – Crews will rehab/replace pipe at various locations.
