Interstate 81 southbound lane closures in Augusta County for paving operations

interstate 81Overnight lane closures are scheduled to begin Monday, June 4, along Interstate 81 southbound in Augusta County for milling, paving and pavement marking. The work takes place through early October along a 15-mile stretch of the interstate from mile marker 237 at the Rockingham County line to mile marker 222 in the Staunton area.

I-81 southbound motorists can expect alternating right- or left-lane closures Monday through Friday nights from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. During some portions of the project, there will also be overnight ramp closures at the exit 235 (Weyers Cave) and exit 227 (Verona) interchanges. The Virginia Department of Transportation will provide advance notice of these ramp closures.

All work is weather permitting.
