Part one of Ken Burns’ seven-part documentary on World War II debuts Sunday night on WVPT-Virginia’s Public Television.
“The War” takes a look at the human dimension of World War II.
“In extraordinary times, there are no ordinary lives,” Burns said. “How fortunate it is that we in the United States are stitched together – as a country, a people, indeed, as individuals, not only by words and their dangerous progeny ideas – but also by memory.”
WVPT will broadcast episodes 1-4 of the documentary series Sept. 23-26 at 8 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. each night.
Episodes 5-7 will air Sept. 30-Oct. 2 at 8 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. each night.
