Last Friday, Atlantic Coast Pipeline LLC announced that it had identified a minor route variation to avoid crossing the Lyndhurst Source Water Protection Area in Augusta County, as requested by the Augusta County Service Authority.
Following further evaluation, the ACP today notified the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission that it is incorporating that variation into the proposed route for the interstate, underground natural gas pipeline.
The variation was incorporated into the proposed route because it avoids the Lyndhurst SWPA, is 1.3 miles shorter than the original route, reduces crossings of karst areas by 1.3 miles, reduces wetland crossings by 0.1 mile and avoids one road crossing.
