Herbs that heal

Herbs that heal will be the subject of the May 12 meeting of the local Brain Injury Support Group.

Kathleen Stinehart, the owner of the Cranberry’s Grocery and Eatery in Downtown Staunton, will speak on the topic at the meeting, which will be held in the Mary Switzer Building on the campus of the Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville at 7 p.m.

“One of our customers – Flora Haas – asked me to talk to the group about culinary herbs that also have healing properties, as well as herbs and supplements taken only for healing,” Stinehart said. “Sweet basil, for example, is used not only in flavorful Italian cooking but also to encourage blood flow and release toxins from the body.”

Natural healing through homeopathics as well as supplements to help with cholesterol will also be part of the conversation. “We’ll kind of see what most interests the group, and I’ll follow their lead in what they want to discuss,” Stinehart said.

The meeting is free and open to the public.

For more information, call Flora Haas at 540.951.2120 or Helen Cloud at 540.886.5420.
