Brian Moran’s fundraising haul in the first six months of 2008 nearly doubled that of 2009 Democratic Party gubernatorial-nomination rival Creigh Deeds.

Moran, a Northern Virginia legislator and chair of the House Democratic Caucus, raised $1.38 million between Jan. 1 and June 30, according to campaign-finance reports filed with the State Board of Elections today.

Deeds, a Bath County state senator who lost a recount to Republican Bob McDonnell in the 2005 attorney-general race, raised $782,586 in the first six months of ’08.

The Moran campaign reported $924,292 cash on hand as of June 30. Deeds had $650,452 cash on hand as of the end of the month of June.
