Staunton: Updates planned for Historic District guidelines

Contributors

staunton virginiaStaunton’s Community Development Department is inviting the public—particularly property owners in the City’s five historic preservation districts and developers interested in historic district properties—to attend a presentation by Frazier Associates at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in Council Chambers at City Hall.

The City hired Frazier Associates, an architecture and planning firm specializing in historic preservation, to create guidelines for commercial development in Staunton’s nationally registered historic districts. The firm will present its plan during the Historic Preservation Commission’s regular monthly meeting.

City planners are reviewing and updating historic district guidelines because existing regulations apply to residential properties and don’t specifically address commercial property and development.

The public is invited to provide input on the process following the presentation.
