Things to do with your dog in Virginia Beach

dogs virginia beachHaving a dog for a pet is, indeed, an interesting experience. From the companionship you get from them to the sense of commitment you learn to develop through them, dogs are truly fun to be with.

But on the downside, it can get stressful and difficult tending to them. You always have to pay extra attention to them, take them for a walk, keep them well-fed, and make sure that they remain healthy at all times. While that may seem like a simple task at first glance, it isn’t. Many pet-lovers have had to turn down the prospect of owning a dog just because of those reasons. But of all the difficulties that come with keeping dogs as pets, none is more daunting than the choice of the destination to take them to. While some areas are dog-friendly, some regions simply frown at the presence of dogs; while some places have some dog-friendly facilities, some don’t. I know you’re probably reconsidering your decision to bring in a dog into your home; please don’t be. There is one very brilliant place for dogs and it’s called “Virginia Beach.” With a plethora of outdoor adventures, Virginia Beach is the perfect playground for dogs and dog-lovers alike. So if you’ve been wondering where to take your four-legged family members to, worry no more! From the ocean to the bay, and all the dog parks and hiking trails in between, whether swimming, hiking, fetching or joining you for a stand-up paddle (SUP) boarding lesson, there is always so much for your dogs to do in Virginia Beach. There are also lots of fantastic pet friendly hotels in Virginia Beach, many of which allow dogs without a fee. Without further ado, here are some of our favourite things to do with our pets in Virginia Beach.

Take your dog out for a walk on the Beach or Boardwalk

From regular days to festive seasons, dogs and pet-lovers alike are always welcomed on the Virginia Beach Boardwalk. Maybe you’re looking to take your pet out for a walk or spend some quality day off with your cute dogs, you can always head off to the beach.

Head to a brewery

The fact that you now have a dog to tend to doesn’t mean you can no longer live your normal life the way you used to. In that light, when you need a pint or two, the open indoor spaces and outdoor patios at some of the local breweries are great spots to enjoy some local brews with your dog by your side.

Spend a day at the park

For those that may want to set their dogs off-leash so that they may get some quality me-time to themselves without worrying about looking after their pets, there’s no better place to head to than the parks at Virginia Beach.

From state parks to dog parks, there are plenty of spots to let Fido run off some of that puppy energy! The dog park at Red Wing Metro Park is a great spot to let your dog run off-leash and maybe make a few new canine friends while he’s at it. For you, avid walkers and runners, the Spanish moss-adorned First Landing State Park provide scenic trails to explore side by side with your faithful companion. They’ll especially love the mix of trails, sandy spots, and abundance of open water, making for a fun and unexpected hike.

Get some edibles

Perhaps, this is one of the best things to do with your dogs in Virginia Beach. After walking your dog for hours, sipping your pint at the brewery, and catching all the fun at the park, you most likely want to get your dog some edibles to bite on, right? Well, Virginia Beach never disappoints. There are so many spots in Virginia Beach that serve dog-friendly menus regularly.

Pooch pampering

If you need some dog-free time or just want to give your poochie pal a break from the hustle and bustle of the boardwalk, have him spend some time at Cosmo’s Corner. This Virginia Beach pet sitting business offers a safe, fun, cage-free “home away from home” for pets, even hosting pet birthday and holiday parties. For some serious spoiling, book your doggie diva in at the Preppie Pooch for a spa treatment. Your canine companion can enjoy a whirlpool hydrotherapy bath, a blueberry or brown sugar scrub, a mud wrap or a soothing paw soak and balm rub.
