Stuarts Draft woman arrested in Waynesboro hit-and-run

hit and runThe Waynesboro Police Department has charged a Stuarts Draft woman with hit-and-run after a Wednesday night crash that sent two people to the hospital and totaled both vehicles.

Loren Elizabeth Boxley, 43, is facing one felony count of hit-and-run involving personal injury after the sport utility vehicle she was driving collided with a another vehicle occupied by a Fishersville couple near the P Buckley Moss Museum.  She then fled the scene.

On Wednesday at approximately 11:45 p.m., the Waynesboro Fire Department, Waynesboro First Aid Crew and police responded to the scene of the two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Rosser Avenue at Town Center Drive.  The Fishersville couple, who are both in their twenties, were stopped at the intersection in their 1995 Chevrolet sedan heading southbound.  Boxley, driving a 1997 Toyota SUV, rear-ended them, propelling their vehicle approximately 150 feet through the intersection.  Boxley then drove off toward Stuart Draft.  Officers followed the fluid trail left by her vehicle nearly eight miles to her home on Arrowhead Drive.  After obtaining a search warrant, officers found her vehicle in the garage.  Boxley admitted to have been drinking earlier in the evening.

The Fishersville couple were both transported to Augusta Health, where they were treated and released for minor injuries.  Boxley surrendered herself at the police department on May 23.  She is free on a personal recognizance bond.
