Shenandoah Valley Art Center: July 2012 Schedule

The Shenandoah Valley Art Center, during the month of July, is exhibiting the works of artist, Lois Schlachter, versatile painter for the past forty years. This Spring Mount, Pa., artist is as comfortable honing her skills with realism in oils as with abstracts painted in acrylics. The exhibit features a series of Abstract Expressionist-style acrylic paintings, rich in color and dynamic in composition.

The artist works directly on the canvas letting the brush and mood be her guide. In her own words, “As I paint and create, I am interpreting the world around me. My art reflects my love of shapes in space, handsome and vibrant color, balance and classical rhythm. Each work is an intrinsic part of me, reflecting hours, weeks and sometimes years of my intimate relationship with my painting. When I am finally satisfied enough to place my work before the viewer, you will have a glimpse into my soul and a part of my being.”

Schlachter is an award winning artist and member of many professional organizations: The Philadelphia Sketch Club, the Fellowship of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Alumni of Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Philadelphia Tri-State Artist Equity, the Plastic Club, American Association of Painters in Casein & Acrylic, DaVinci Art Alliance, and the Allied Artist of America, Inc. An Opening Reception will be held July 12, 5:00 – 7:00pm and the public is encouraged to come and meet the artist after she speaks briefly about her work.

In the Hallway Gallery, artwork by the Shenandoah Valley Art Center resident artists will be featured.
