Staunton West End Alliance to hold school board forums

staunton virginiaThe Staunton West End Alliance, a local community group, will hold candidate forums for the upcoming school board elections on Wednesday April 20th at 7pm.

The forum will be moderated by The News Leaders Community Conversations Editor, Deona Houff.

This is the only scheduled School Board forum for this election.  Issues facing the Staunton school system are numerous, and include future plans for Robert E. Lee High school, improvements at Bessie Weller Elementary, and recurring funding issues.

When:  Wednesday April 20th @ 7pm at Marquis Memorial Church on West Beverley

The forum will take place in Marquis Memorial Church’s large social hall off of the lower parking lot.

Staunton’s West End Alliance is a citizen led effort to organize residents and partners of Staunton’s West End to address the concerns of our area’s businesses, business owners and residents. Our goal is to improve our area’s general infrastructure, visibility, and overall aesthetic in an effort to increase foot traffic to local businesses, raise property values for residents and create a safer, more pleasant place to live.
