The Lime Kiln Theater Summer 2018 concert series will continue on Friday, Aug. 31, as John Doyle and Friends take the stage. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the show starts at 8.
Doyle will perform with fellow Irish players Mick McAuley (of Solas) and Oisín McAuley (of Danú), along with local favorites James Leva and Danny Knicely.
Advance tickets are $20 and are on sale now at www.limekilntheater.org. Tickets will be $25 at the door, with cash, Visa, MasterCard and Discover all accepted. The show will take place at Lime Kiln rain or shine.

From a musical family in Dublin, John Doyle’s influences include well-known English folk singers Nic Jones, Martin Carthy, Richard Thompson and The Watersons; Scottish singers Dick Gaughan and John Martin; fellow Irishmen Paul Brady and Al O’Donnell; and his father, Sean Doyle – probably the biggest influence of all. John went on the road as a pro at 16 with the group Chanting House, which he formed with Susan McKeown and which eventually included such great players as Seamus Egan, Eileen Ivers and Donogh Hennessy.
John went on to form the highly acclaimed super group, Solas, with Seamus Egan, John Williams, Karan Casey and Winifred Horan, which took the folk and Celtic music worlds by storm, in no small part due to John’s powerhouse rhythmic guitar style and innovative arrangements. As a member of Solas, John performed to sold-out audiences nationally and internationally, as well as appearing on many national TV and radio programs. As part of that critically acclaimed group, he also received three NAIRD awards and a Grammy nomination for the band’s self-titled first recording.
Lime Kiln Arts, Inc. is a non-profit (501c3), operating at Lime Kiln Theater in Lexington. It opened in 1984 and is rooted in and inspired by the magic of a natural, outdoor theater. After a brief hiatus that started in 2012, Lime Kiln Theater is thrilled to present its fifth straight summer season of live music and theater featuring local, regional and national acts.
