The culmination of a day full of activities starting with the second annual Big Blue 5K and the 47th annual Charity Bowl, the spring game was seen by more than 4,000 Monarch fans, the highest attended spring game in ODU history.

The Big Blue 5K started the day off which was followed by the Charity Bowl where Team Grand Slam edged past Team Monarch, 27-24.

The offense got off to a fast start with Ray Lawry busting off a 30-yard touchdown run to put the Blue Team on top and the White Team coming back with a trio of Jeremy Cox touchdown runs to go up 21-7.

A Shuler Bentley to Zach Pascal four-yard touchdown pass made it a 21-14 halftime lead for the White Team.

In the third quarter, Satchel Ziffer added a field goal to put the White Team up 24-14 but with time running out Bentley tossed a 50-yard touchdown pass to make the score 24-20.  The Blue team retained possession, simulating a successful onsides kick, and drove quickly to the nine where Lawry plunged in for the 27-24 lead.

Blake LaRussa led the White Team down the field quickly, hitting Jonathan Duhart twice, and then finding Duhart inside the five before time ran out.

This was the 12th workout of the spring for the Monarchs with three more to come next week.
