BC students recognized for excellence in computer science, mathematics

Rebekah Broome, Kelly Rooker and Shawn P. Vernier were recognized for excellence during the annual awards convocation on May 1 at Bridgewater College.

The department of mathematics and computer science presented the Outstanding Senior in Information Systems Management award to Broome, the Outstanding Senior in Mathematics award to Rooker and the Outstanding Student in Computer Science award to Vernier. Each received a gift card to the college’s bookstore.

Broome is a senior information systems management major with a minor in computer science. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Broome of Front Royal, Va.

Rooker is a senior biology and mathematics double major with a minor in philosophy and religion. She is the daughter of Terry and Charlene Rooker of Fredericksburg, Va.

Vernier, a junior computer science major with a minor in computer information systems, is from Stuarts Draft, Va.
