Augusta County: Route 250 slope repairs begin Monday

Chris Graham

road work transportationPart of Route 250 (Shenandoah Mountain Road) in western Augusta County will be restricted to a single 10-foot travel lane on weekdays beginning Monday, March 11. Flaggers and pilot trucks will control traffic as contractors make emergency slope repairs about 0.3-mile from the Highland County line. Route 250 will be fully open to two-way traffic on Saturdays and Sundays. All work is weather permitting.

During the slope repairs, variable message boards will advise commercial trucks to use the following alternate route between Churchville in Augusta County and Monterey in Highland County:

  • From Churchville to Monterey: South on Route 42 (Buffalo Gap Highway/Little Calfpasture Highway/Virginia Avenue), west on Route 39 (Maury River Road/Mountain Valley Road), and north on Route 220 (Sam Snead Highway/Jackson River Road) to return to Route 250.
  • From Monterey to Churchville: South on Route 220 (Jackson River Road/Sam Snead Highway), east on Route 39 (Mountain Valley Road/Maury River Road), and north on Route 42 (Virginia Avenue/Little Calfpasture Highway/Buffalo Gap Highway) to return to Route 250.
