muttville-comixJohnny Peers and the Muttville Comix have performed with David Letterman, Regis & Kathy Lee and Jerry Seinfeld, and now the signature comic act starring shelter dogs is coming to the Wayne Theatre in Waynesboro.

Peers and his trained best friends will perform two shows at the Wayne on Thursday, Sept. 22, at12:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Tickets for the 12:30 p.m. show, part of the Arts Education programming at the Wayne, are $7.50, with 7 p.m. show tickets at $15 per person.

Meet and greets and photo ops with the dogs are available after the shows.

“This is pure, just fun entertainment for people of all ages, and especially for dog lovers out there,” said Tracy Straight, executive director of the Wayne Theatre.

Peers literally grew up in the circus. His father ran a concession stand in the traveling Ringling Bros. Circus, and Peers eventually graduated from the Ringling Clown College in 1970.

He started using dogs in his own shows in 1972, and trains them to do things like jump rope, climb ladders and have comic fun with their best friend, who silently plays the fall guy.

The troupe has performed from coast to coast and on four continents, touring with Ringling Bros. and making special appearances at Disneyland and Busch Gardens.

The Wayne Theatre is located at 521 W. Main Street in Downtown Waynesboro. More information or tickets are available at (540) 943-9999 or WayneTheatre.org.
