Each year, the Community Benefit Committee of the Board of Augusta Health awards a $1,000 scholarship in honor of its first CEO, Dick Graham.
The scholarship is presented to an employee, an employee’s spouse or an employee’s child for tuition at any educational institution above the high school level.
This year, the Committee selected Nicholas Racine, the son of Joanna Racine, who has worked at Augusta Health for 18 years. Racine, who recently graduated from Wilson Memorial High School, will attend Virginia Tech this fall.
In addition to being an outstanding student who has been dual enrolled at Wilson and Blue Ridge Community College, Racine has been active in many activities including soccer, the Singing Sergeants and Latin. He has volunteered, had a part-time job at Zeus Theater, and operated his own independent lawn service.
Racine was one of several impressive students who applied for the Dick Graham Scholarship this year. The Committee wishes them all good luck as they continue their studies this fall.
