State Board of Elections determines presidential ballot order
The State Board of Elections conducted a drawing on Tuesday to determine the order in which Virginia’s third party presidential candidates will be listed on the presidential ballot in the November General Election pursuant to § 24.2-614 of the Code of Virginia.
The Constitution Party slip was drawn from a crystal bowl by SBE Board Vice-Chair, Kimberly Bowers, followed by the Libertarian Party slip drawn by SBE Chairman, Charlie Judd, and lastly, the Green Party slip drawn by SBE Secretary, Donald Palmer. The order for these parties will follow the Republican and Democratic candidates respectively, which were drawn at the June 26, 2012, board meeting. The political party presidential candidates will appear on the ballot in the following order: Republican, Democratic, Constitution, Libertarian, and Green.
In addition, at today’s meeting, the Board voted unanimously to request the Office of the Attorney General to investigate alleged petition fraud on petition forms submitted by the Constitution Party in its efforts to gain ballot access for its presidential candidate for the November General Election.
