Report: TNA stars asked to take pay cut

Contributors

tnaProWrestling.net reported today that TNA executives have asked some of its roster to agree to pay cuts once their current contracts expire.

No names were given, but the requests appear to be across the board. Talents whose contracts aren’t set to expire are being asked to restructure their contracts, in some cases, according to the report, by as much as half.

TNA would appear to have leverage in this situation. WWE has made it clear that it isn’t gung-ho about signing recent TNA talents. For example, Sting has been a free agent for going on two months now, and AJ Styles has been on the market for nearly three months, and WWE has not jumped to sign either.

WWE appears more interested in using its development system with NXT to build up its new stars, and is having success in that regard, with The Shield and Bray Wyatt the most recent additions to the top of the card from NXT.

So the message from the TNA honchos to the talents could very well be, Take it or leave it, and good luck on the indy circuit.
