united way of greater augustaThe United Way of Greater Augusta recognized local companies, organizations, and individuals last week at its Annual Awards Celebration held in the Octagonal Barn at the Frontier Culture Museum in Staunton.

The most significant awards went to Delia Zimmerman, Volunteer of the Year, McKee Foods, Company of the Year, Blue Ridge Legal Services, nonprofit of the Year, and a special recognition to Kevin Hall of McKee Foods for his many years of service on the Board of Directors at United Way.

Also announced were recipients of grant funding for the United Way of Greater Augusta’s 2016-17 funding cycle. Funding was prioritized for the new cycle based on impact areas of Income, Education, and Health. The committee invested $250,000 in direct dollars to local programs and services.

The Citizen Investment Review Team and the Board Awards Team worked together using an Impact Model to see that donor funds are directed to community needs and programs that have measurable and sustainable outcomes.
