Staunton Senior Center Members Made Warm Memories

Contributors

Five Staunton Senior Center members left the comfort of their homes on the evening of Nov 26 to take part in the Staunton Christmas Parade.

Thanks to the efforts of several staff members and volunteers who decorated the van, picked up members, and accompanied them throughout the evening, these special individuals were able to enjoy a time of warm fellowship which included listening to and singing along with Christmas music in the van; conversation during the lengthy wait for the parade to begin; and a loop around Gypsy Hill Park afterwards to take in the lovely lights display.

Lori Pullen, Program Director and two members proudly carried the SSC banner in front of the brightly lit van, sandwiched in between a clogging group in front and a school band behind, a prime location to be noticed by the community viewing the parade. An added bonus was a contact made to the Center by a potential volunteer who was so impressed with the enthusiasm of two staff members attending the parade and cheering on SSC, that she emailed the Program Director that very evening about giving of some of her time at the Center!
