NARAL endorses Bennett, McEachin for Congress

congressNARAL Pro-Choice America PAC announced its endorsement of LuAnn Bennett (VA-10) and State Sen. Donald McEachin (VA-04) in their campaigns for Congress.

NARAL’s endorsements reflect Bennett and McEachin’s steadfast leadership in standing up for women’s reproductive freedom and policies that support Virginia families.

“LuAnn Bennett and Donald McEachin are fierce advocates for our reproductive freedom and we couldn’t be more proud to support their campaigns for Congress,” said Sasha Bruce, senior vice president of campaigns and strategy at NARAL Pro-Choice America. “LuAnn and Donald are leaders who will fight to defend our reproductive freedom and ensure women have access to the full range of reproductive healthcare, including abortion. At a time when our reproductive freedom is under constant attack by Republicans in Congress, LuAnn and Donald are the kind of leaders Virginia families need in Washington.

“Both LuAnn Bennett and State Sen. Donald McEachin are longtime and proven pro-choice leaders,” said Tarina Keene, executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia. “LuAnn served as a founding board member for NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia and helped jumpstart our political efforts because she knows how important it is to stand up and stand strong for Virginians’ reproductive freedom. Sen. McEachin not only earned a consistent 100% pro-choice rating from NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia during his time in the state Senate, he also championed bills to expand access to birth control and abortion care across the state. Both of these candidates will be reliable and formidable voices for Virginian women and families in the halls of Congress. I am thrilled we have the opportunity to send two steadfast pro-choice leaders to Congress this year!”

In VA-10, incumbent Rep. Barbara Comstock has dedicated her career to rolling back the progress made for women’s reproductive freedom and has earned a zero percent rating in NARAL’s annual rating of members of Congress. Comstock has repeatedly supported efforts to defund Planned Parenthood, voted for a nationwide abortion ban, and pushes anti-choice policies that undermine women’s access to basic health care, including abortion.
