PUSH: VDOT and I-81
I dunno – seems to me that when citizens groups are resorting to filing lawsuits to try to block something that a government agency is doing, they must be feeling that the political process isn’t working the way they want it to.
|That’s on the one hand. On the other, it does still seem like we’re at square one on this I-81 improvement stuff – and we’re what, a decade into it now?

PUSH: Charlottesville to begin new city-staffed ambulance service
Another on-the-one-hand, on-the-other-hand …
On the one hand, the city isn’t going to go into this kind of thing without thinking that it is something that needs to be done.
On the other hand, this is clearly going to put pressure on city leaders to either now or eventually charge those being ferried on the taxpayer-funded service for the ride to the hospital.
Which would be all well and good, if everybody had decent health insurance and could have it covered that way.
But we live in America, and a lot of us have nothing in the way of health insurance – and most of the rest of us lack anything resembling decent.
So …

PUSH: UVa. needs to commit $1B to boost research efforts, according to report
Another – ahem – on-the-one-hand deal …
UVa. has donors with deep pockets. So $1 billion is nothing to get too worked up over.
But …
Are those deep pockets tapping out with the money that’s been committed to sports-facilities improvements?
I have to wonder.
