The Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge is now accepting applications for the 2016 grant cycle. Eligible areas of interest include arts, culture, health, heritage, environment, recreation, education, basic human needs and other civic initiatives.
“The Foundation’s grants represent a strategic investment in projects and programs that are poised to make a meaningful difference in our community,” says Dan Layman, CEO of the Community Foundation.

Youth Philanthropy Grants
Funding Available: $15,000 total
Deadline: Midnight on Monday, January 11, 2016
Eligibility: Nonprofit organizations serving the needs of teens in Staunton, Waynesboro, and Augusta County
About: These grants support organizations providing access to education and career opportunities for teens, access to teen mental health services, and expanded teen-centered activities in the area.
Community Grants
Funding Available: Up to $200,000 total
Deadline: Midnight on Tuesday, February 8, 2016
Eligibility: Nonprofit organizations serving the needs of Staunton, Waynesboro, and Augusta, Nelson, and Highland counties
About: These grants support a wide range of charitable activities, including the arts, health and human services, and education.
Nonprofit organizations interested in receiving support from the Foundation should begin by reviewing grant guidelines and deadlines at www.cfcbr.org. To qualify, organizations must be a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, school, or government entity.
“Any organization that serves our region should consider applying. We strongly encourage grant-seekers to contact us directly to strengthen their grant application,” says Susan Lendermon, Director of Nonprofit Services for the Foundation.
“The above grants represent only a portion of what we give back annually. We anticipate a total distribution of $750,000 or more to the local community in 2016,” said Layman.
Since its inception in 1992, the Foundation has reinvested more than $7 million into the local community.
