A Bridgewater man faces charges after a chase that ended miles away in Churchville.

Rodney Faison, 60, has been charged with driving under the influence, with additional charges pending, according to a release from the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office.

The pursuit began in the Town of Bridgewater in Rockingham County related to a traffic violation.

Augusta County authorities were dispatched to the area of the Rockingham/Augusta line on Route 42 at 3:55 p.m.

A K-9 deputy deployed stop sticks and successfully deflated all four tires on the fleeing vehicle, but Faison continued southbound at reduced speeds, nearly striking several northbound vehicles.

A decision was made to end the pursuit by maneuvering the suspect vehicle into a ditch. Once stopped, near the intersection of Route 42 and Route 250 in Churchville, the driver remained non-compliant by refusing the commands given by deputies, according to the release.

Deputies broke the window to the vehicle and deployed a K-9. The driver was subsequently taken into custody and identified.

Faison sustained minor injuries.

There was minimal damage to a law-enforcement vehicle, but no injuries to deputies were reported.
