The No. 6 UVA field hockey team (3-2) tallied its second shutout victory of the season, defeating Miami (Ohio), 3-0, Tuesday afternoon at Turf Field in Charlottesville, Va.

EMU men’s soccer rallies, defeats Southern Virginia in double OT, 2-1

It was the end of a long day of soccer on EMU’s Turf Field, but an incredibly satisfying one. Junior Jake Lind (Harrisonburg, Va./Eastern Mennonite) punched home the game-winner with 4:47 left in double overtime, giving the soccer men a 2-1 win over Southern Virginia in their home opener Wednesday night.

Scoring first doesn’t always turn into a win as the EMU field hockey team found out Wednesday. The Royals got the first goal but still found themselves on the short end of a 4-1 decision to McDaniel College.
